268 Kilowatts is about 340, lets say 350 HP. at the wheels, SO ~450-475 AT THE CRANK.

Is it just me, or does that seem really low for a 3.6 L turbos motor?

It supposedly produced about 260 KW at the crank without the turbo, that's a pretty good gain. They're running on low boost to play it safe, but they could always increase the boost for more power, once they know the limits on the engine.

It sounds reasonable for a factory engine. I would like to see Nissan do this with a future 370Z equivalent. At $30k for a 370Z i'm going to be wanting 400hp.

They are running low boost. They also don't really know how long the motor will last under pressure. Also, numbers really are not what you should be concerned about when you tune a car on a dyno, it is all about the curve of the power, especially true for a street car. I would like to see the charts to see when the torque comes on, I'm sure the torque curve is more impressive than the power curve.

Once they suss out how well the motor handles the boost, or when they break it and put stronger rods and bearings in it that motor would be a beast. But also bigger motors don't need massive amounts of boost to make lots of power like smaller four cylinder cars. I don't think the 3.6 needs the crazy 30 lbs of boost the 2.5's take. . .

470 crank hp is what the 09 gtr was rated at. This is a high compression motor designed for n/a performance, not a low compression set up for massive amounts of boots. 8 pounds is nothing, I'll be running 24 psi on my saabaru soon, with goals around 400whp. If they rebuilt and sleeved the motor + forged internals, they could be hitting 600whp+ at 24psi. Those figures are good for their build.

I'd love to see them add direct injection to the 3.7 instead of going the route of undersized 4-banger with turbo to try to make up for it like everyone else. That engine has been developed for so long and is a great all-around package, and with the NISMO version at 350, adding DI should let them get close to 400 while improving mileage.

I definitely don't think they should go 4 cylinder on the Z. If they can make the car I would like naturally aspirated I would take it. What you claim seems reasonable enough.
